This is the first in a series of prizes I'm awarding to the winners of the latest contest at !
First place went to ~trenchWeasel and you should all go check out their gallery!
The requested prize was of Buster Keaton in his famous porkpie hat. I must admit, all I knew about Buster Keaton before this piece came from the movie Benny and Joon where Johnny Depp acts like Buster Keaton. AKA nothing.
This was a fun portrait to do--the grayscale was more challenging than I thought it would be. He also has extremely delicate features for a man, which I found really interesting.
I hope you like it, ~trenchWeasel! Second and third prizes are coming soon!
I'll remove the watermark if the prize-winner okays it, so I hope it doesn't bother people too much!
Oh my gosh, I LOVE Buster Keaton! I especially love his silent movies. I'd say "College" is one of my favorite movies of all time. Sherlock Jr. was brilliant as well. That guy was a freakin' genius.
If you have Netflix, I think all of his silent movies are on there (if not, they're public domain, so you could probably find them anywhere). They may not be your cup of tea, but (in my opinion) the subtle comedy in them in absolutely amazing.
